Historical background
The main stages in the establishment and development of the Faculty of Management and Economics are as follows:
The first stage – began in 1995 with the first intake of 36 students in the specialty “Administrative Management”. An important milestone of this stage was 2005 – the year of the first graduation of masters in the specialty “Administrative Management”; in 2007 we obtained the right to train senior public administration personnel for the Khmelnytskyi and neighbouring regions – masters in the specialty Civil Service (the current name of the specialty is Public Administration and Management).
The second stage – the period of opening new specialties at the first (bachelor’s) level of higher education: in 2016 – Public Administration and Management, and in 2017 – Finance, Banking and Insurance. During this stage, active work was carried out to launch the training of top-level specialists. In particular, in the 2016–2017 academic year, postgraduate studies were licensed in the specialties Economics, Finance, Banking and Insurance, and Public Administration and Management; doctoral studies were opened in the specialties Mechanisms of Public Administration and Public Administration in the Field of State Security and Protection of Public Order; and a specialised academic council began its work for the defence of dissertations for the degree of Candidate of Sciences in Public Administration in the specialties Mechanisms of Public Administration and Public Administration in the Field of State Security and Protection of Public Order.
The third stage – the further expansion of the student body, including through admission to new educational programmes: since 2018 to the programme “Bachelor of Tourism”, since 2019 to the programme “Master of Management. Healthcare Organisation and Management”, and since 2022 to the programme “Bachelor of Philology. Germanic Languages and Literatures (including Translation), the first – English”. Part-time bachelor’s studies were also introduced in the specialties Finance, Banking and Insurance and Management. In addition, doctoral studies in the specialty Economics were opened. The level and potential for the further development of the Faculty of Management and Economics at this stage became the grounds for the decision of the university’s academic council to create a new faculty – the Faculty of Public Administration – on the basis of the following structural units: the educational department for the training of public administrators, the Department of Philosophy, Social and Humanitarian Sciences and Physical Education, and the Department of Public Administration and Management (decision of the academic council of 17.08.2023, minutes No. 1, put into effect by order No. 476/23 of 17.08.2023).
The fourth stage – the concentration of efforts on the further improvement of the content of and approaches to training specialists under the educational programmes in the specialties Philology, Finance, Banking, Insurance and Stock Market, and Management, the launch and development of the specialty Marketing, and the further definition of the strategic prospects for the development of the faculty.
