Department of Management, Economics, Statistics and Digital Technologies
Leonid Yuzkov Khmelnytskyi University of Management and Law
The Department of Management, Economics, Statistics and Digital Technologies is one of the key structural units of Leonid Yuzkov Khmelnytskyi University of Management and Law. It was founded in 1999 as the Department of General Management and Organization Management. Over more than two decades of its existence, the Department has changed its name a few times, expanded its academic and teaching staff, enriched the list of educational disciplines, and introduced new study programs.
Heads of the Department
The first Head of the Department was Yurii Mykolaiovych Komar, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Senior Research Fellow (currently Doctor of Public Administration, Professor), who headed the Department until September 2000. From 2001 to 2021 the Department was led by Viktor Petrovych Synchak, Doctor of Economic Sciences, Professor, who made a significant contribution to its development. In September 2021, Nataliia Petrivna Zakharkevych, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor, was elected as the Head of the Department.
Formation of the Academic and Teaching Staff
At the initial stage, the Department actively involved experienced lecturers from other higher educational institutions. Between 1999 and 2012, significant support was provided by Doctors of Economic Sciences, Professors V.V. Stadnyk, O.I. Honchar, D.P. Domanchuk, Ye.H. Riasnykh, as well as Candidates of Sciences, Associate Professors L.P. Shvets, R.V. Boiko, S.M. Taranenko, V.P. Velboi and Senior Lecturer N.I. Maiorova, who worked part-time.
Gradually, the Department began to expand its own human potential. Significant contributions to its development were made by N.L. Korzhenivska (2005-2008), V.V. Kovalchuk (2008-2016), T.P. Plishka (2008-2018), T.V. Ryzha (2009-2018), O.V. Mazur (2011-2014), O.V. Malyk (2014-2016), Ya.H. Buchkovska (2014-2021), H.V. Bulat (2018-2022), S.I. Melnyk (2021-2023).
Expansion of Scientific Potential and Department Reorganization
An important stage in the development of the Department was its merger in 2010 with the Department of Economic Theory and Entrepreneurship. This integration led to the expansion of the scientific and methodological base and the renewal of academic disciplines. As a result of these changes, the Department received a new name – the Department of Management, Economic Theory and Finance, under which it functioned until 2016.
New lecturers, including Candidates of Sciences and Associate Professors, have joined the Department.
Throughout the years, the Department not only involved experienced specialists from other academic institutions but also actively developed its own academic and teaching staff, giving talented university graduates the opportunity to continue their professional path within their alma mater. Thus, in 2000, Andrii Valeriiovych Koriuhin and Artur Anatoliiovych Noversaliuk, graduates of the first intake of the Faculty of Management and Economics, joined the Department’s teaching staff (the latter worked until 2011). Their example was later followed by graduates of subsequent years – Nataliia Petrivna Zakharkevych, Dariia Andriivna Arziantseva, Alla Viktorivna Krushynska, Tetiana Anatoliivna Samaricheva, Yuliia Vasylivna Hramatovych, who continue to work at the university to this day.
