Successful Defences of PhD Dissertations
On 2 and 3 July 2026, Leonid Yuzkov Khmelnytskyi University of Management and Law hosted the successful defences of dissertations for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in specialty 081 Law (field of knowledge 08 Law) by Volodymyr Bohdanovych PALIICHUK on the topic "The Case Law of the European Court of Human Rights as a Source of Ukrainian Land Law" and by Oleksandr Valeriiovych LUTSIUK on the topic "The Legal Regime of Agricultural Land Holdings".
Against the backdrop of our country's integration into the European Union, the case law of the European Court of Human Rights serves not only as an effective instrument for protecting the rights of our citizens, but also as a clear guide for the transformation of domestic land legislation. A striking example is the ECHR judgment in Zelenchuk and Tsytsiura v. Ukraine, which proved decisive in paving the way for the market circulation of agricultural land in Ukraine. No less important is the effective use of land resources within agricultural land holdings, which is addressed in the work of Oleksandr Lutsiuk.
I would like to thank the postgraduate students for their fruitful work throughout their four years of postgraduate study. I am confident that the results of your research will enrich land law scholarship and contribute to improving the legislative framework in this area. I would also like to express my respect and gratitude for their professional expertise to the official opponents – Doctor of Law, Professor, Academician of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine Volodymyr Vasylovych Nosik; Doctor of Law, Professor Tetiana Oleksandrivna Kovalenko; Candidate of Law, Associate Professor Iryna Volodymyrivna Ihnatenko – to the reviewers: Candidate of Law, Associate Professor Galyna Volodymyrivna Anikina; Doctor of Philosophy in Law, Associate Professor Andrii Myronovych Ivanytskyi; Candidate of Law, Associate Professor Zhanna Leontiivna Chorna – and to the Chair of the specialised academic councils, Doctor of Law, Professor Oleksandr Oleksiiovych Bryhinets.
