Guest Lecture by Professor Enrico Albanesi of the University of Genoa

On 12 June 2026, students of the Faculty of Law studying in the "Bachelor of International Law", "Master of Law" and "Doctor of Philosophy in Law" programmes attended an open guest lecture by Professor Enrico Albanesi of the Department of Constitutional Law of the University of Genoa on "EU Directive 2024/1760 on Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence: ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance Sustainability)". The lecture was organised by the Department of Environmental Law of Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University. Enrico Albanesi is also a researcher and co-director of the IALS Law Reform Project at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, University of London.

The lecture examined the key provisions of the Directive, its significance for implementing ESG principles, and companies' new obligations to identify, prevent, mitigate and remedy adverse impacts on the environment, human rights and good corporate governance in global supply chains. Particular attention was paid to the practical aspects of implementing the Directive, its relationship with other EU instruments in the field of sustainable development, and the potential impact of the new requirements on Ukrainian businesses in the context of Ukraine's European integration. During the discussion, Professor Albanesi also spoke about applying ESG principles in post-war reconstruction and improving the investment climate in Ukraine.

The lecture proved extremely valuable for anyone interested in sustainable development, corporate responsibility and the alignment of Ukrainian legislation with EU law. We thank Professor Enrico Albanesi for an interesting and informative lecture, and the Department of Environmental Law of Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University for the opportunity to attend it!
