All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Round Table "Current Issues in the Reform of Land, Labour, Agrarian and Environmental Legal Relations"
On the initiative of the Department of Labour, Land and Commercial Law, the All-Ukrainian scientific and practical round table "Current Issues in the Reform of Land, Labour, Agrarian and Environmental Legal Relations" was held on 31 May 2024 at Leonid Yuzkov Khmelnytskyi University of Management and Law. The reform of the agricultural sector and the introduction of market mechanisms into the legal regulation of land relations are extremely relevant to state-building in Ukraine in the context of Russian aggression. The round table was attended by Members of Parliament Volodymyr VATRAS and Mykola STEFANCHUK, representatives of state authorities and local self-government bodies, and leading academics of the Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa and Lviv schools of law. The issues discussed included the reform of land ownership relations, the protection of land as a prerequisite for its rational use, the legal framework for the transformation of agrarian relations in Ukraine and other related matters.
The event aimed to bring together academics, representatives of government and local authorities and the public to identify effective legal mechanisms for completing agrarian and land reform and for safeguarding environmental security and citizens' labour rights in the context of Russian aggression, global challenges and crises, with a view to drawing up specific recommendations for the sustainable development of our country.
The round table was held in memory of our esteemed fellow countryman, Professor Stanislav Feliksovych Dombrovskyi, whose life and work epitomise a steadfast commitment to building Ukraine as a modern state governed by the rule of law. For his personal contribution to increasing, by legal means, the efficiency of agricultural production and the social reorientation of the rural economy, he was awarded the honorary title "Honoured Lawyer of Ukraine" by Decree of the President of Ukraine L. M. Kravchuk of 13 November 1992. Stanislav Feliksovych was one of the founders of the Khmelnytskyi Institute of Regional Management and Law, where from 1993 he worked as a lecturer, senior lecturer, deputy head of the Department of Civil Law Disciplines and professor of the Department of Labour, Land and Commercial Law, passing on his wisdom and in-depth knowledge to new generations of young lawyers.
